VOLUNTEERING

Are you looking for ways to give back to your local community, whilst making friends and having fun?
An Outwood Social volunteering project could be just the thing!

With so many exciting volunteering opportunities across the county, we want to use the power of our community to bring people together and match them with volunteering projects that they care about.

Have a look at our latest volunteering partnerships below and follow the steps to secure your space on the project.

All of our volunteering partnerships are Outwood approved, meaning we’ve worked with them to understand the remit of the work and we’re there every step of the way should you have any questions or concerns.

There are no volunteering projects currently. But check back again soon.

VOLUNTEERING PROJECTS

DO YOU WANT TO BECOME AN OUTWOOD SOCIAL AMBASSADOR?

As a SOCIAL ENTERPRISE, without our Outwood Social ambassadors and volunteers, our community simply wouldn’t exist. As we continue to grow, so too does the support we need to keep our events calendar thriving. Find out more about our latest VOLUNTARY ROLES and how you can get involved here.

DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT OR FUNDRAISER YOU’D LIKE US TO SUPPORT?

If you’re a charity or community project and would like to be added to our Directory or be considered as an Outwood Social volunteer project, then please e-mail [email protected] or visit our Partners page.

Event Host

Here at Outwood Social we value all our members and volunteers. Each and every one makes a positive contribution to connecting our community, through their attendance at our events or volunteering support.

An ever-increasing membership means that we are working even harder to plan and host more events across Shropshire. To do this in a continuous and timely manner so that the range, frequency, and quality of what we offer our members is maintained, we are seeking some additional, voluntary support both “behind the scenes” and in a more prominent “front of house” role.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to share your skills and passions, as well as a way to make new friends while doing your bit. The smooth running of our group is powered by the amazing volunteers and ambassadors in our community, and without them it simply wouldn’t be possible.

Whilst each volunteering role has a specific remit, all Outwood ambassadors meet on a monthly basis to share updates, brainstorm new events ideas and work together to create an exciting calendar of events.

Event Host Role Description

  • Attend an event of your choice.
  • Be the nominated person to meet and greet everyone who attends the event.
  • Oversee the flow of the event from start to finish to ensure maximum enjoyment for all.
  • Look out for any latecomers and ensure they feel welcomed and able to catch up on what they might have missed.
  • Be the first point of contact between Outwood Social and (where applicable) the venue or activity instructor.
  • Engage with attendee’s, answering any questions and sharing news about upcoming events.
  • Note any issues that may arise during the event and provide feedback to Leanne Danby after the event – what worked well, what didn’t work well.
  • Take photographs of the event (excluding anyone who has opted out of photos)
  • Liaise with other Outwood ambassadors to ensure consistency in event planning, organisation and delivery.

What You Will Get in Return:

  • Free attendance at any events you host (t’s and c’s apply)
  • Petrol reimbursed (t’s and c’s apply)
  • Exclusive early booking for any events you wish to join
  • Be part of our monthly ambassadors meeting
  • Option to attend Outwood Ambassadors Socials
  • Be part of the Outwood Social journey and supporting our community

FAQs:

  • How much time will I need to dedicate to it? You can dedicate as much or as little time as you can spare.
  • Will I be insured if I host an event? Yes, you will be covered for your volunteering role by our Outwood Social Insurance Policy
  • Is there any training available? Yes, all volunteers will have their role explained to them and you will have the opportunity to ‘shadow’ other volunteers until you feel confident to take a lead yourself. Communication with Leanne and other volunteers is the key, and you will be shown how to do this
  • What if I’m feeling unsure about whether it’s for me? Give it a go! You may surprise yourself. However, if you are still uncertain after trying out a role that’s absolutely fine!
  • How long do I have to commit too? As for the first FAQ, you can dedicate as much or as little time as you can spare.
  • What are the benefits of being a volunteer? In addition to the benefits listed above, you will gain some useful leadership skills, a knowledge of how social events are planned and delivered and, we hope, you will gain a great deal of enjoyment from helping Outwood Social develop and grow.

If you feel that you have the time available and are keen to take on the above volunteering role, please get in touch with Leanne to discuss in more detail! ([email protected] / 07772810329)
