Social Enterprise

In early 2023, Outwood Social became one of over 100,000 registered Social Enterprises in the UK.
Social enterprises demonstrate a better way to do business, one that prioritises benefit to people and the planet.

For us as an enterprise, Community is at the heart of everything we do – whether that be our members, volunteers, local businesses, charities or employers. Everything we do is with ‘real connection’ at its core.

Putting purpose before profit, our ambition is to broaden the reach of Outwood Social, supporting those in our community that can’t access our events. Through grant funding and other financial support, we want to give everyone access to the same level of experiences that we are fortunate to share with our current members.

Outwood Social. Where all Paths Meet.
 OUR GOALS:
  • Improve Health and Wellbeing by encouraging people to be more active and try new activities and hobbies.
  • Help those struggling with their Mental Health by boosting morale, spending more time outdoors and meeting new people.
  • Help the unemployed move closer towards employment or education by inspiring new skills, course signposting and increasing confidence.
  • Use the power of our community to support local volunteering projects and charity fundraising.
  • Help drive the circular economy in Shropshire, by supporting independent businesses with increased footfall and awareness through event partnerships.
  • Work with employers to offer their employees access to Outwood Social membership, to support work / life balance and wellbeing.

HOW WE WORK AS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

We work with local organisations, authorities, and charities on a partnership basis to support their causes, volunteering projects and fundraising goals.

We work with employers to ensure health and wellbeing in the workplace is a priority for their staff.

We champion local independent businesses at all of our events, putting money and resources back into the community that serves us.

We tackle issues of loneliness and other social barriers that might stop people living their happiest life.

We honour the environment and put time and resources back into it so that people can enjoy the area around us for years to come.

You might see the words ‘Community Interest Company‘ under our logo and in our marketing, and be wondering what that means. A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a form of social enterprise designed to benefit the community. It is a legal entity that combines the characteristics of a company with a commitment to serving the public good.
