Shrewsbury Prison is the second most haunted jail in the world, so what better way to spend Halloween than hearing from an ex-prison officer on what life was like for prisoners, officers and visitors. Bringing the prison to life through a no-holds-barred tour of this historic and fascinating building in Shrewsbury.
You’ll listen in horror as you’re told about the sinister side of jail life – torture, murder and hangings, the last execution was only 60 years ago.
Explore two traditional Victorian Prison wings, A Wing consists of 172 cells built to house 350 men. C Wing consist of 22 cells originally designed to house female prisoners until 1921. Wander the landing as officers did for the past 200 years and discover what it was like to be locked behind the steel doors.
Our tour is booked for 13.00 and will finish at 15.00. We can then go and enjoy coffee and cake in the onsite prison cafe.
